Minnesooooota is how they say it...always the long o's...
We arrived in MN on New Years Day...what a fitting day to start a new chapter in our lives. The road trip was effortless...tony drove the whole way, we had every spare inch of the car packed, and our 2 kitties enjoyed crawling around on the dash and on my lap. There was no bad weather, no car problems, and no traffic. it was actually weird being on the road on new year's eve...there were no cars on the highway for miles. we made it to our hotel at 11:30 pm...just enough time to ring in the new year at "Settle Inn" in Kansas City. Nothing like "settling in" on our 4 inch foam mattress...
i was so bored as a passanger...i took lots of naps, but kept feeling bad that i should be awake, keeping tony awake...he kept telling me it was ok...but i still stressed about it. one time i was dead asleep, and i woke up to the sound of him snoring....i freaked out and yelled...and then he laughed...funny little joke tony..funny...
i made tony do 'mad libs', i felt like i was in grade school again on a road trip..i even thought about playing 'my grandma owns a gocery store' and 'travel bingo', but mad libs is as far as tony would let it go....he gave in after the snoring incident cause i was so mad....
my boredom continued..and i searched every gas station for a crossword puzzle...finally an hour from home i found one..just in time to 2 puzzles and we were here.
tony parents remodled the basement bedroom for us, and it feels like our little apartment..it's so nice!! we feel so welcome here. of course we hung out with the whole fam that night...tony's sis and husband and 3 boys. i love being closer to family....
tony started his job this week..he loves it..it's his old job and he knows most of the guys. we even got to go to a work holiday party last sat night...it was so fun to meet all his co-workers and make new friends....
we got a new car last week...well, by 'new car' i mean a 91 geo prizm...we had to get a new car, cause we gave mine away in CA before we left, so we could drive together. however, the 'new car' belongs to tony cause it's a stick and i'm retarded when it comes to that...at least in the winter...so i inherited tony's car...
i'm still looking for jobs...right now i haven't worked in 2 weeks and i dont know what to do with myself...it's kinda nice..but it's getting boring....
i love MN...it's fun getting to know a new place. i can't get over the minnesota accents though...everyone with their long o's....and everyone says "you bet" a lot...
well, i'm sure i've blabbed enough...i will try to keep up on the blog....dont be confused by the name "shellafornia"...i'm too lazy to change it and have a whole new blog address....
